Simple Question-Hard Answer
A good friend asked me what they thought was probably a very simple question. I gave them a simple answer. But the truth is the question was not simple and the answer absolutely was not simple to answer, it was extremely hard to answer. Especially at the timing of the question.
The Simple Question
“We enjoyed you input. Thought about going to XYZ?”
XYZ is a State, and the question is regards to a ministry need in a specific region in the State, actually a specific church.
My Simple Answer
“I would go, Carmi would not?”
Friend’s Response
“Thought she felt a burden for them, especially First Name.”
My Response
“She does! But she knows the price to pay.”
Friend’s Response
“I understand.”
The Real Question
The question is not simple, it is extremely hard. The real question(s) is, (in no specific order):
A. Are you willing to go through spiritual battles in your marriage when you already have spiritual battles in your marriage?
B. Are you willing to be misunderstood, attacked, and have curses spoken over you?
C. Are you willing to be told how great you are and how much your love and patience is appreciated, to later be told how you are self-centered?
D. Are you willing to have your heart broken again and again?
E Are you willing to have your life on the line because you will be in the midst of the devil’s playground?
F. Are you willing to go through times of depression and absolute loneliness?
G. Are you willing to let go of the comforts you have now that took your entire life to obtain?
H. Are you willing to give your all and see little fruit?
I. Are you willing to give your all and potentially lose everything? Die penniless?
J. Are you willing to ultimately make many mistakes and have many regrets?
K. Are you willing to go through all of the above if souls are saved, lives are transformed, and generational curses are broken?
All of the above questions can be changed to two questions:
1. Are you willing to go through all this if God calls you to go to XYZ?
2. Is God calling you?
The simple answer for me, Rich, is yes, if God is calling us to go to XYZ. The simple answer for Carmi is, yes, if God gives multitudes of confirmations that it is His will.
