The Transforming Power of the Love of Christ
The love of Christ constrains, compels, drives, urges, us to die to self and live for Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:14
For the love of Christ constrains us because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then all were dead; (dead in our sins)
2 Corinthians 5:15
And that He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them and rose again.
New Creation in Christ
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old
things are passed away; behold all things are become new.
Justification
In a spiritual sense once we accept Christ into our lives we are no longer who we were, our spirit man comes alive and our flesh starts to die. We are heaven bound. Praise God!
Sanctification
Because of the love of Christ compels us to die to self, each day we should look more like Jesus if the love of Christ has grabbed us.
Ministry of Reconciliation
2 Corinthians 5:18
All things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself, by
Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation.
Because we have been loved by Jesus, we are compelled to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, thus becoming a new creation that is changing daily.
If we have been truly touched by the love of God we will have a desire to help others know the love of Christ.
Ambassadors for Christ
2 Corinthians 5:20
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ…
Because we have been loved by Jesus, we are compelled to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, thus becoming a new creation that is changing daily.
If we have been truly touched by the love of God we will have a desire to help others know the love of Christ.
It goes one step further-we realize we are to be ambassadors for Christ-we are to represent Christ by walking in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
The Righteousness of God
2 Corinthians 5:21
He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
Because we have been loved by Jesus, we are compelled to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, thus becoming a new creation that is changing daily.
If we have been truly touched by the love of God we will have a desire to help others know the love of Christ. We become ambassadors for Christ.
Thus we understand we are to walk in His Righteousness.
The Problem-Why many Christians are not very good ambassadors for Christ.
Lack of Righteousness
Poor Ambassadors for Christ
No desire to share the love of Christ
Minimal evidence of being a new creation in Christ
Living for self, not Christ
WHY??????
Either have not truly encountered the love of Christ or have not been consumed by the love of Christ? Which is it? Are you born again or just said some words? Is Jesus just your Savior and not your LORD?
It is time to be consumed with, overtaken by the love of Christ. Ask Jesus to consume you with His love.
