Judgment of God-American Church, Part Seven

Judgment of God-American Church, Part Seven | No Accountability |
Part Seven of this series was going to be on Charismania but something came across my Facebook feed that jumped out at me. It was very timely on this series regarding the American Church. It is timely for some other reasons. It is on the concept of Unchecked Authority. It is titled titled Church Leaders Gone Wild and was written by John Paul Warren. Every single Christian, leader or not, needs to read this article. I beg of you to read it.
Lone Ranger Leaders
In many churches and ministries in America the leaders are lone rangers in the sense they are not accountable to anyone. While at the same time they tell their congregation, their staff, that they need to be accountable, that they need to submit to the leadership. Let that sink in. They believe those ‘under them’ need to have a ‘covering over them’ but the leaders themselves have no covering. That is hypocrisy.
Unchecked Authority
here are churches and ministries that may have some type of structure/system in place to have oversight, to hold them accountable, to be checks and balances, but in reality those who are to oversee have no authority to oversee, or the overseers are ‘yes’ men, or they are unqualified to be any position of authority. The end result is the ministry leaders get a free pass.
End Result
The end result of unchecked authority is there is corruption, there is sexual abuse, there is manipulation, there is cover-up, there is unimaginable dysfunction within the ministry. Sooner or later the ministry will go sidelines. Even if doesn’t, it will not be as fruitful as it could be if there was a true True Leadership Team.
Major Crisis
I could say much more on this but like I said there is an excellent Facebook post by John Paul Warren titled Church Leaders Gone Wild that does a great job of addressing this major crisis. Yes I call it a crisis. When there is unchecked authority in ministries it will always in the end lead to disaster or ineffectiveness. One would have to be spiritually blind to not see the current crisis happening in American churches and ministries.
Godly Leaders Can Fall
Even good, sincere, godly Christian leaders, can fall. Let’s Get Real! Any Christian leader that does not what accountability in their life, especially when they teach their members to submit to authority, is a leader that does not have totally pure motives. Or they are naive, deceived, or prideful. Even if the ministry leader or ministry does not fall, it will never be as fruitful as a ministry that a biblical Leadership Team.I personally find it very hard to trust any organization that has unchecked authority. Actually, I do not find it hard, in reality I find it impossible to trust any leader or organization that wants to have unchecked authority.
Warning
Be aware if church members, ministry staff do not hold leaders accountable, God will expose secret, hidden sin, and raise up others outside the organization to bring public exposure.
