My Perspective on Healing
My Personal Perspective on Healing-PreacherRichD
The following is my perspective on healing. I will say over the years I have had various opinions about healing, especially divine healing, but I am now totally convinced that the Sovereign Lord of heaven absolutely divinely heals in miraculous supernatural ways and can use doctors in miraculous ways. I also believe that an overwhelming majority of time doctors and medicine do not heal, they just manage symptoms. I also believe ALL HEALING ultimately comes from the love and mercy of Father God regardless of the means He uses to bring healing.
When I speak of healing I am talking about more than physical healing. I am talking about healing of bodies, minds, hearts, and relationships. I believe in a whole person approach to healing. I believe it is the heart of Father God to heal of us of ALL our iniquities and ALL diseases because of His love and mercy, and because it brings Him glory, most importantly because it is biblical.
1 Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:3-5
Younger Years
When I was young and an atheist my total trust was in doctors. They were may only hope. As I got into my twenties and still an atheist my perspective started changing. I started seeing that doctors were PRACTICING medicine. I started believing that maybe we had some say in our health based upon how we eat and live. But my thoughts had little influence on my behavior.
New Christian
When I became a Christian I started seeing my body as the temple of the Holy Spirit and that I should use wisdom what I put in it. At times I would go on a health nut craze, but could never stick to it. At the same time I started going to a church and Bible College that believed in divine healing. That was a brand new concept to me. Logically I struggled with the concept but I could not deny that throughout Scripture that God is in the ‘healing business’, in both the Old Testament and New Testament.
Healed of Asthma
While in Bible College I was divinely healed of asthma. (I had asthma since childhood, at times, especially early on, very serious symptoms, including in and out of the hospital.) I have no doubt I was divinely healed. Within a week after prayer I realized I no longer needed an inhaler, no longer needed pills, no longer had allergies, and was able to split a cord of wood by myself with no symptoms. I have not had any symptoms for over 42 years, other than one time when I was praying for someone to be healed of asthma. I came against that demonic attack.
Deliverance
I came to believe much of sickness, dis-ease is the result of demonic influence. The more I read Scripture and what I saw it is clear to me, that the devil is the ultimate one responsible for any form of dis-ease.
Divine Healing
Over the years I have seen people healed in a divine manner. No question in my mind that they were healed miraculously. I am talking about instantaneous physical healing and delivered from addictions. BUT, at the same time my logical mind took me down a path of giving all kinds of excuses why God does not heal. (I will talk more about that in another article.)
Healing is Part of the Plan of Redemption
I became totally convinced that whole person healing is part of the plan of redemption. One of the meanings of the word salvation is to be made whole. I could not deny all the Bible verses on healing. Thus I became convinced that it is God’s will to heal. One has to twist Scripture to come up with the concept that it is not God’s will to heal or that the reason most people are not healed is because God does not want them healed. (Of course the Sovereign Lord can do what He chooses to do.)
Why Are More not Healed Supernaturally?
Over a period of time I started asking why is there not more supernatural healing. Why was I not seeing it, or experiencing it? That got me on a pursuit for answers and not just excuses. (In another article I will share various reasons given by many Christians why there is not more divine healing. During my pursuit for answers I realized most of the problem is man, (ultimately Satan) not God. This got me digger deeper into the subject of divine healing.
Healing, Deliverance, and Roots
All the Scriptures that speak of healing and deliverance are certainly not the problem, either Scripture is true or it is not. I came to the conclusion that if man is the man problem, then Satan is more of the problem-false teaching by man, and Satan is the root of false teaching. The missing piece in regard to divine healing is the ignoring of the root causes of dis-ease. Doctors, medicine, pastors, elders, MEN, are ignoring the root causes of sickness and all forms of disease. They are all just addressing the symptoms. Medicine cannot fix the root issue. Counseling most of the time cannot fix the root issue since that is not the focus. Deliverance cannot fix the root issue, if the root issues are not dealt with demonic influence can come all over again. Formulas certainly cannot heal people. To see healing we need to get to the root of the sickness or disease.
Roots to Sickness and Disease
Scripture makes it clear that there are attitudes, mindsets, and spirits that can be behind sickness and disease. Scripture makes it clear that there can be generational curses behind sickness and disease. (We will be sharing these Scriptures at a later date.) Cutting a weed instead of pulling it up only allows the weed to grow back. Praying for someone’s healing when there are root causes behind the disease, causes that may need to be repented of, limits how much healing, if any, can occur in a divine manner. (I will be getting into this in greater detail in other articles.)
Healing, Health and Sanctification
Is it possible there is so much sickness and disease in the body of Christ and minimal divine healing because the topic of sanctification is almost totally ignored in the body of Christ. Does it not make sense the more we become like Christ, the more we walk in the fruit of the Spirit, the more we line up our life to the will of God, the less likely we will be affected by disease? If we are sick, before seeking doctors and medicine should we not ask the Holy Spirit if there is any attitude, mindset, curses, sin, that may be opening us up to sickness?
Prayer
Bottom line, if we are not praying by faith for people to be healed they almost for sure will not be healed. Remember, 90% of the time doctors and medicine do not heal, they manage the symptoms.
Summary
My personal perspective on sickness/disease/dis-ease and healing is that it is always the will of God to heal. (If there are times it is not His will, He is Sovereign, then it is in His hands, not ours. Clearly, there is a time appointed for man to die.) There is minimal divine healing because there is minimal prayer for divine healing. There is minimal divine healing because there is overall avoidance by Christians to deal with demonic spirits that can be behind sickness and disease. There is minimal divine healing because there can be root causes for sickness and disease and they are never are addressed. The issue is not God, it is man and ultimately Satan. Living in a fallen world and man having a free will can certainly interfere with healing.
Disclaimer
All of the above perspectives are my personal opinion alone and there is no intention of it being representative of any other individual or organization. To be the best of my ability I have formed my opinion on divine healing based upon Scripture. To state the obvious, it is absolutely immaterial what my opinion is, what is my interpretation of Scripture may be, or any other persons opinion or interpretation. What matters is God’s perspective based upon His WORD. We all see dimly through a mirror until we see our Father God face to face.
