Romans 5 Hope-Part Three

Hope and Faith
Hope and Faith are connected.
Hebrews 11:1 NASB
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.Â
Hebrews 11:1 AMP
Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].
Symbolism of Electricity
When we turn on a light switch we have faith that the light will come on even though we do not see the electricity flowing and may know nothing about how electricity works. We have hope the light will come on because we have seen the lights come on every time we flip the switch. Thus when we have seen God work in the past it gives us hope. With that hope we are able to walk in faith.
Talking Real Life
The day before doing the podcast a mutual friend of myself and Bobby had passed away. Bobby was having a hard time with guilt because he felt strongly he should have been a better friend. We end up processing this on the podcast, talking about having hope that God’s promise of peace would come. Hope in the forgiveness of God. Thus, Bobby could walk in faith in the midst of all his feelings, knowing God would be with him.
We discussed when we understand that we are justified by faith, we can have hope.
Living For God
We ended the podcast talking about living for God. When you understand that God’s promises are true, that there is hope in Christ, that there is forgiveness, that you are justified it is easy to live for God, being servants of Christ. In the midst of the discussion talked about how none of this makes sense to an unbeliever.
