Bobby the Seeker

Robert Langdon, Bobby the Seeker, is the Co-Host of There is Hope Radio Podcasts. Before we share how this came to pass, here is some info on There is Hope Radio.

Richard Dover, PreacherRichD, started There is Hope Radio, years ago. Over the years it has had various formats. Originally it was a Live two-hour talk show on KGNW 820AM in Seattle. It’s main focus was on addiction and recovery. Later, because of time constraints it became a one-hour live talk show. When Rich became a Senior Pastor and also running five faith-based sober houses he discontinued There is Hope Radio. A couple years ago Rich, decided to start There is Hope Radio Podcasts.

Bobby the Addict, Alcoholic, Gambler, Womanizer, Lawbreaker

Before Bobby was Bobby the Seeker and a co-host for There is Hope Radio Podcasts, he was far from being a Spiritual Seeker. He was a lover of sin. He wanted nothing to do with a god that he wondered if even existed. Bobby’s life was a total wreck, and he made a wreck of other people’s lives as well. Rather he knew it or not he was vessel for Satan, certainly not for God.

Bobby lived in Neveda and you might say he lived in Casinos. He worked int he restaurant business as a server and made plenty of money but it ultimately went to the alcohol, drugs, and gambling. He had a problem, he could make good money gambling, but he always lost it in the end.

Bobby the Sober House Resident

Bobby had a friend named Ed who moved into one of Rich’s sober houses. Ed was a Native American who got the victory over alcohol. Bobby was impressed but wondered if it could be true. Ed invited Boddy to move into the same house that Ed was living in.

Bobby made the decision to move into the sober house. He did not tell Rich there was two main reasons. To run from the Feds and to prove that Richard was a fake, just one of those fake preachers. What Bobby did not realize is that God would give Rich a love for Bobby and Bobby as a ‘project’ to receive the love of God and be transformed.

One of the requirements for living in the faith-based sober houses was to attend Bible Studies in the houses, to attend recovery church services, and when Rich became a Senior Pastor to attend the church he pastored. So, Bobby who certainly was not a Spiritual Seeker found himself surrounded with the Bible, Biblical Teaching and Preaching, and godly counsel.

Bobby and the Altar

On a regular basis Pastor Rich would have altar calls after services. Bobby had no idea what altar calls were all about but he knew for sure he would never go to an altar in front of people for any reason. Pastor Rich gave a message on Forgiveness. He had an altar call for those who needed to forgive others, forgive themselves or ‘forgive’ God. Bobby felt a tugging to go to the altar. He could not resist the tugging.

Bobby went to the altar and Pastor Rich and his wife Carmi prayed for Bobbie. Bobbie describes being overwhelmed with tears. he could not stop crying. He felt forgiveness, peace, like ‘something had grabbed hold of him’ and he felt overwhelming love.

Bobby came to Christ and he and everyone around him started seeing a transformation in Bobbie. Bobbie had joy, he was open to things of God, Bobby was becoming a Spiritual Seeker.

Bobby Up and Down

Bobby was born again but he had many ups and downs. Gambling was the sin that easily entangled him and at of course, drinking and gambling mix well. But gambling was the main monkey on his back.

Bobby ultimately moved out of the sober houses, plus Pastor Rich discontinued them after doing them for nine years. Bobby and Rich would have contact off and on.

Bobby the True Seeker

Ultimately Rich and his wife Carmi moved to Arkansas to semi-retire. Overall Rich lost contact with Bobby, other than talking with him a few times. Bobby was doing well overall, but Rich knew in his heart that Bobby had not gotten the complete victory over gambling.

About one year ago Bobby became desperate. He was ready to give up gambling, all forms of it, permanently. He knew he had to confess to Rich and needed a commitment to grow spiritually once again. Bobby became a thirsty, hungry Spiritual Seeker.

Bobby knew Rich had started up There is Hope Radio Podcasts. He asked Rich if he would cover the Beatitudes since he had some questions on them. Rich asked if he would like to be on the podcasts so he could ask questions and interact, Bobby agreed. It became obvious that Bobby should co-host with Rich and be called Bobby the Seeker.

Why Bobby is the There is Hope Radio Podcast Co-Host?

The tagline for the podcast is The Let’s Get Real PreacherRichD. It became evident that Bobby is the same way. Bobby is open and vulnerable, no facade. It becomes clear Bobby has much to learn about the Bible, Bobby has many questions that listeners would be asking if they were on the show. Bobby shares how he applies what he is learning.

Those who listen to There is Hope Radio Podcasts comment over and over again how PreacherRichD and Bobby the Seeker interact so well.

Blessed Beyond Measure

I, PreacherRichD, am blessed to be able to do There is Hope with Bobby. I see the change that has taken place within. I am amazed every time I do a podcast with Bobby. My wife Carmi and I almost every podcast talk about having the experience of being part of the transformation of Bobby. I will admit almost every single show I have a few tears of joy. Bobby has certainly not arrived, I have certainly not arrived. We are just two men at different levels of spiritual growth that know that Jesus is the Answer for both of us and that the Word of God has power to transform lives. It is our hope that There is Hope truly gives hope, but not only hope, that it changes lives. That others will be blesse because of the finished work of Christ.
