Thoughts on The Awe of God

My wife Carmi and I just finished the audiobook version of The Awe of God by John Bevere. We absolutely loved the book because it inspired us and spiritually challenged us (full of meat, not milk). Plus the book has short chapters that only take 10 minutes to listen to or read.

I recommend this book to be read by every Christian that has a desire to walk in the fullness of Christ and live out the sanctification process. Plus you will line yourself up to more fully receive whatever blessings God has for you according to His will.

Awe of God/Fear of God
If you truly love God, you will be in awe of God. You will have a holy fear of God. I beg of you, do not let the phrase fear of God turn you away from reading the book. Please listen to the audio excerpts from the book in my podcast so you have clear understanding what is the fear of God. Living a life in awe of God, the fear of the Lord, will transform you. You will live a life that gives glory to God, you will be a vessel of honor for the kingdom of God.

What If’s
In the book John Bevere shares the What If’s:
What If the Fear of God is a virtue? What if the Fear of God is reflective of an authentic relationship with God? What if the Fear of God leads us to walk in the fullness God has for us? What if the Fear of God eradicates all other fear?

Definitions/Characteristics of the Fear of God
In the book John Bevere shares the definitions/characteristics of the Fear of God. To hallow, to esteem, respect, honor. venerate, adore, to taker on God’s heart, love what God loves, hate what God hates. What is important to him becomes important to us. What is not so important to him becomes not so important to us. To hate sin. To hate injustice. To depart from evil. Walk in humility and praise God.

Lack of Fear of God
It should be clear it is because of a total lack of fear of God that those who call themselves Christians will walk in blatant sin. It is because flesh has become allowed to overrule the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. It is because the Holy Spirit has been quenched and grieved. (Or they are not truly born again.) Hopefully this is not occurring with you. If so, it is time to say, God put a holy awe of you in my spirit. God, I need you to bring conviction in my heart and get right with you.

Fairfield Bay
