Faith Ablaze-John Wesley, Traveling Preacher

As a child John Wesley was rescued from a burning house. Years later he would become the man who an entire nation ablaze with the power of the Holy Spirit, and the founder of the Methodist movement, along with his brother Charles and George Whitefield.
As a child Wesley along with all his siblings experienced ongoing personal teaching and prayers from their mother Susanna. Prayers on sin, repentance, holiness.
Like so many others that God has used mightily, Wesley was known of as a man of prayer. He was burdened for Great Britian. It was a land of luxury and poverty, cold churches and crowded taverns. The answer? Prayer! Praying and preaching repentance. Church doors closed on him. Pastors called a fanatic, prideful, a heretic.
John Wesley made a decision in his heart on his father’s grave, “God still visits the dust of England.” He traveled across the countryside of Great Britian and Ireland. He would cross muddy roads, open fields, and sleeping villages. He preached through rain, wind, and ridicule. He preached up to 15 times a week. The end result was a holiness movement revival across the land.
What about you and I? Will we be willing to sacrifice and suffer for the salvation of souls?
