Handling Personal Physical Threats

I will be doing a series of podcasts regarding the Pastor Tony Spell and Luke Sherwin incident that is throughout the news. I will be sharing my decades of ministry that included many times with very volatile individuals. I will be sharing ways of how to help prevent such a situation. I will sharing about the higher standard for Christian leaders when dealing with issues. I will be sharing about the persecuted church. I will be sharing about self defense as a Christian.

First off I and most likely 90% of Americans do not know the full, true backdrop of what led Pastor Spell to do what he did. Most Americans have no idea of what they would do until they are confronted with such a situation. I have been confronted with such a situation and that will be the subject of this podcast.

Before I share my personal stories I will say there are ways to prevent situations from escalating. I will say there is a difference between self-defense and going beyond self-defense. I will say after a Christian is involved in an incident they should be able to state where they think they could have done things differently. I will say that I have my perspective on this situation but I do not have all the details and I certainly do not know the heart of any of the people involved. I think everyone can acknowledge it was an ongoing issue with Pastor Spell and the Sherwin’s and maybe if things had been handled differently in the past it would not have led up to what took place.

I will be doing several other podcasts sharing my personal experiences with verbal and physical threats, ongoing verbal abuse, mocking, harassment. I have fallen short doing things biblically, but when I have done it right I have seen good results, some amazing positive results.

In 72 years on earth I have never had to physically lay hands on anyone. There may well be a situation in my life I may have to go as far as taking someone’s life to defend myself or someone else.

Personal Threats to Me and Others

At various times I have had individuals verbally threaten to harm. I have only had one individual that literally physically threatened me. He came at me with swords. He believed it was demonic and spoke against the spirit of murder and the person then attempted to harm themselves and I came against the spirit of suicide, nobody got harmed.

I had a person who threatened to harm others, to kill men in our sober house. The Holy Spirit gave me a solution to de-escalate the problem, and the problem, the person, left with no altercation.
