Intercessory Prayer

Prayer is communication with God. It is simply talking to Him, sharing your heart and requests with Him. Intercessory prayer is when you specifically pray on behalf of someone else.

Intercession Meaning
The Hebrew “paga” means “to fell,” or “attack,” but also “meet” or “make supplication.” Our English word “ intercession ” is derived from the Latin “to come between,” which means both “obstruct” and “to interpose on behalf of” someone. The greatest example of intercession is Jesus standing between us and the Father, pleading on our behalf.

What is Intercessory Prayer?
Intercessory prayer is where a person stands in the gap for another person and pleads with God (on their behalf) through persistent prayer. God wants us to stand in the gap for each other in prayer. Jesus Christ is an example of intercessory prayer because he stood in the gap between God and humanity.

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,

1 Timothy 2:1 NKJV

Sacrificial Praying
Intercessory prayer requires you to sacrifice in order to see the prayers answered. The sacrifice simply may be the time you give up to pray for another or the sleep you sacrifice to pray in the early morning hours. It can even be turning down food in order to fast and pray for someone. You may be praying for their healing, their deliverance from an addiction. their salvation, or some other specific need in their life.

Effective Intercessory Prayer
For intercessory prayer to be effective and powerful we need to pray with passion, longing to see God move on behalf of those we are standing in the gap. We should go before the throne room with boldness, pleading with God to hear our prayers. Effective intercessory prayer is much more than praying for two minutes once a week with generic prayers. Instead, it is crying out to God with intensity with very specific prayers, having an expectancy that God is going to answer our prayers.

God is Looking for Intercessors
He certainly is looking for Intercessors who will stand in the gap for America. Will you be one of them. Will you give a meal for revival in our land and for souls to be saved?

30 I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. 31 Thus I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; their way I have brought upon their heads,” declares the Lord God.

Ezekiel 22:30-31
