Why Not Become a Christian?-Part One

Objection Number One–Christians are Hypocrites
Guess what? I absolutely agree Christians, myself included, have the potential of being hypocrites or come across as hypocrites. But guess what? That is true of every single person on earth. So, are you going to stop being a human being because you are a hypocrite or have the potential to be a hypocrite? Here are some things to think about.
Why is it that those who have the objection have no problem with being united with other hypocrites? Let’s add the word fake with the word hypocrites. Your objection is Christians are fake, they are hypocrites. Hmm, do you go to bars? They are full of hypocrites. People go into bars removing their wedding band to act like they are not married. People telling all kinds of stories that are not true. People acting like they have their life together and they are a mess. Maybe this describes you. There are hypocrites at your work, in your family, where you shop.
You cannot run from hypocrisy. If that is what is stopping you to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior and refuse to be a hypocrite, guess what? You will find out like all of us that are Christians, you are going to fall short. I myself would rather be around some Christian hypocrites here on earth but spend eternity with people who have become sinless by the grace of God than the potential of hell with a bunch of hypocrites.
Christians Stop Being Hypocrites
When you become a Christian, you take on the name of Christ. Stop bearing false witness by living a lifestyle contrary to how a Christian should live. Stop justifying your blatant, willful, ongoing sin with no heart to repent. You are one of the number one reasons people reject Christianity.
Praise God, for me as one who was an atheist, when I considered there was a God, I had relationships with Christians who were not hypocrites. If they were, I most likely would have rejected Christianity.
Objection Number Two-The Concept Of Hell
Since I brought up the word hell, those who are listening will say, the concept of hell is why I refuse to be a Christian. It is a fair tactic to manipulate me. I get it.
Sadly, there are Christians, there are preachers that seem to focus on hell, hell, hell. You do not like it, and I do not like it. The Bible nowhere says that the fear of hell will make you love Jesus, will set you free from the bondage of sin, or transform your life.
Actually, the Bible says the understanding of the love of Christ compels us, drives us, urges us to want to live for Jesus.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15
14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.
In fact, the power of experiencing Jesus’ love actually makes us become a new person, gives us a desire to want others to experience that love, and we become pastors for Christ. You can read all this in 2 Corinthians 5.
We need to know about hell because we need to know that our sin, if not dealt with, leads us to eternal punishment, so it must be spoken of. But fear is a terrible motivator.
Love wins the heart of people, not speaking condemnation. Listen, we are all sinners in need of a Savior. The good news is that Jesus can be a Savior of whomsoever. He wants us to have eternal life in heaven where there is no sin, thus no consequences for sin.
Before I leave this subject, if all you know as Christians is that all they speak is hell and condemnation, stop being around them. Avoid them. They are either not Christians or they are legalists that will try to put you into bondage or they are very deceit. Whatever. I would say stay clear of individuals that all they can talk about is hell and condemnation.
Objection Number 3-I’m Too Wicked To Be A Christian
So many times I’ve heard people say in a joking manner, but some believe it. “If I ever walked into a church, God would strike me dead.” If God wanted to strike you dead, He could do that outside a church building. The truth is, if you are hearing this broadcast, you are not dead, no matter how sinful you are. That proves He loves you in spite of you. Listen, the Bible says in Romans 3.23. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. God is perfect and all of us are imperfect sinners. All sin leads to death and hell without Jesus Lord and Savior. Jesus did not die for people who deserve heaven. Your sin is not too great for God to forgive.
A person gets to heaven through the saving grace of Jesus Christ, not by works. I beg of you, do not wait until you are good enough. You will never be good enough to come to Christ. Come as you are.
Salvation-Becoming a Christ Follwoer
Our Heavenly Father is a loving, gracious, merciful, compassionate, forgiving God. Even though all of us are sinners, He His Son, Jesus Christ, to this earth to be the sacrifice for our sins. And Jesus willingly chose to be the sacrificial Lamb. Because of Jesus Christ living a perfect holy life, dying on the cross and rising from the grave, we have the ability to have eternal life if we receive Him as our Lord and Savior.
Prayer
I pray that those who are reading this who have not made a decision for Jesus, that right now your Holy Spirit would convict them, your Holy Spirit would speak to them, and that Lord, they would have faith to believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave for their sins. And that they would have the faith to believe that if they say, Jesus, I confess my sins to you. I ask that you help me to repent, to turn away from those sins. I believe you died on the cross. I believe you rose from the grave. And I want you to become not only my Savior, but to be the Lord of my life, to take control of my life.
And Father God, if they have prayed a prayer like that, with the pureness of heart, that Father God, you assure us that we have eternal life.
And Lord, I would also pray for those who are anti-Christian, anti-Christ, for those who just have a disdain for Christianity.I want to pray for them, because I know that Lord, for many of them, they’ve had bad experiences with bad Christians. They’ve had bad experiences with those who claim to be Christians that are not. And Lord, they probably have wounds. They probably have some scars. There’s some bitterness in them, resentment, hate. Lord, they need healed. Would you heal them? Would you heal them of the wounds and the scars they have in their life from what has been done by Christians or others? And that, Father God, that you would wrap your arms of love around them, build them up, encourage them, Lord, and reveal your tremendous, amazing love to them, Lord. And that they could come to a place to trust you as their Lord and Savior. And I pray all this in Jesus’ name.
