Condemnation vs Conviction-Part Two

Condemnation does not make you better.

Condemnation

Condemnation Greek katakrima (kat-ak-ree-mah), an adverse verdict, damnatory sentence.
There is no hope, the outcome is final-condemned. No way out of the punishment. Condemnation is filled with guilt, shame, and no hope. You cannot fix the situation. Satan condemns.

At some point God will certainly condemn sin and the wrath of God will be poured out. But the heart of God is to led people to repentance, to give the hope of salvation. To give us the grace to live in victory over sin. There is hope in Christ.

Condemnation Brings Hopelessness

Satan will use condemnation to bring hopelessness. “You are a terrible Christian, you probably are not even a Christian.” “You are too dumb to be a Christian.” “You will never be good enough.” “Why even try?” “You should just give up.”

Condemnation not only attacks what you are doing wrong, but attacks you. A person who is consumed with condemnation feels like they are under a death sentence.

Condemnation normally does not bring any change in a person’s life. If you condemn someone for a certain behavior, your words of condemnation normally do not bring positive change. Most will just give up and throw up their hands in despair.

Condemnation and God

If you are doing something not right and you are feeling condemnation it most likely is not from God. He brings conviction, making you aware of the fact that there needs to be change, but not attacking in a way that brings hopelessness. BUT there are consequences if God is calling for change in your life and you are not cooperating. There is certainly going to be times of judgment against sin and there certainly is going to be a time when the wrath of God is manifested. But God will never pour out His wrath upon a true Christian, a child of God.
