Objection Six-Christianity is a Crutch
There are those who are opposed to becoming a Christian, or have any kind of religious faith, because they say Christianity, Jesus, Promise of Heaven, the Bible are crutches. They say Christians or religious people are weak willed individuals, those who do not know how to deal with life challenges, or those filled with fear of death.
With these assumptions the person is certainly putting all Christians in all box. On logic alone this is irrational and reveals prejudice to group all Christians in a box.
Responses to Christianity is a Crutch
a. It is prideful and foolish for any person to insinuate that they will never in their life be weak or fearful in the midst of a hardship/suffering/tragedy.
b. If there is a higher power, God Almighty, to tap into for strength it is foolishness to live life on your own strength. Think of how many individuals trying to cope with health issues, addiction, mental illness, divorce, etc on their own strength. The results are usually not very good.
c. If a person does not believe in an eternal afterlife, thus have no fear/concern of hell or faith in heaven, most are more likely to not live according to godly principles, or will try on their own strength to me an ethical/moral person. Either way, they fail to consider the end result if they are in error-eternal consequences.
d. If there is a heaven and hell, and Jesus is the only means of entering an eternal heaven, it is foolishness to think that you will enter heaven on your good efforts.
Praise God for the Crutch of Christianity, for the Holy Spirit Crunch, the Goodness of God Crutch
Bobby and I spend much time on this topic, being vulnerable with our life stories. We talk about those who have never experienced the end result of trusting in Jesus have no idea of the rewards of being s follower of Jesus Christ. It does not a person will go through less suffering but does mean they ultimately will be equipped to handle whatever life hands out to them.
