Truth

I have shared that I am committed to Honesty & Integrity. I have shared I am committed to the Word of God. Thus, I am committed to what is true, truth versus deception.

I have an extreme disdain for lies, falsehoods, half-truths, deception, fake memes, false AI generated articles, hoaxes, etc. All of things are reflective of the character and tactics of Satan. As followers of Christ we should not have any part in any of these things. We certainly should not be a bearer of false witness.

Hunger for Truth

I have a hunger for truth. I want to know what is true, right, correct. I seek after truth. This passion is what drove me as an atheist to ultimately go on a journey to see if there was a god, a real god. That journey landed me to the Bible. Was the Bible true? If the Bible is true then there is a God. I want to know all about that God. That led me back to the Bible. So, once I came to the logical, rational conclusion the Bible was true, I pursued the God of the Bible, which lead ne to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

My hunger for truth has not ended, and as time goes on, my disdain for falsehood has increased.

What is Truth?

I say the Bible, Word of God, is truth. Thus, I define everything else around me based upon the Bible. But, of course, there are multitudes of things that are not in the Bible. But if anything contradicts the Bible, it is falsehood in my mind.

I believe we are called to use our minds, our intellect, or experiences. common sense, most importantly the leading of the Holy Spirit, to identify what is true and what is false. I do not believe God leaves us hanging to know what is true and what is false.

I Will Stand for Truth

I will stand for what I believe is true. I absolutely acknowledge I certainly do not have all truth, that I can be completely deceived, that I have certainly shared things that have turned out to not be true. But until I am proven to be wrong I will stand on what I believe is true. I will live by my convictions.

Most of the time if you find me being steadfast, hardnosed, dogmatic on something it is probably because I have studied it out. I have looked at all angles and I have come up with my own conclusion. Can I be totally wrong, yes, because I may have not obtain all the facts or my prejudices/biases/emotions have misled me. But until I am proven wrong, I will stand for what I believe.

Benefits of Seeking Truth

If a person is seeking truth, a side benefit is that you can gain knowledge, insight, wisdom, in a variety of realms, not just spiritually.

Because of my desire for truth, knowledge, wisdom, I have been able to accomplish multitudes of things in life. There are very few things I cannot do. That does not mean I do them well. It may mean many mistakes (which means learn how to cover mistakes), it may mean taking longer than most, but I still can do it.

I gain wisdom that has helped me so many times in life. Wisdom that I can share with others.

Disdain

I have a disdain for what I see as foolishness, willful ignorance, laziness in obtaining truth. So I have a strong disdain for fake memes that are promoted even when a person knows they are not true. I have a very strong disdain for those who claim to be Christ Followers who spread deception, especially when the basis is the end justifies the means.

My Problem

In regard to this subject, there are many. Way too many times I put truth above relationship. Way too many times I have impatience with ignorance or foolishness. Way too many times I become too outspoken. I am very knowledgeable because of my passion to become knowledgeable. But knowledge can feed pride. The problem is you do not always know when you have pride. The ongoing battle of is it being confident or being prideful. The problem is my confidence is many times interpreted as pride.

Another problem is wanting to be right.

Solution

Ask God to keep me humble. Continuously check my motives so that pride, being right, is not my motivation. Maintain a heart of love. Keep a pure heart, have right standing with God. Walk in righteousness and holiness to help keep doors shut that could lead to deception, pride, wrong motives. Slower to speak.

There is a ‘joke’ in our house. Carmi will tell me at times, hold back the truth, not the right time. I invariably say “Do you know how much I am holding back? My mouth is bloody from biting my tongue so hard.”

Be Aware

Be aware that I am aware of my problems. Be aware that if I speak on truth I have asked God permission to speak on it. Be aware I may seem dogmatic, but remember I pursue truth, thus I must be open to the fact I may be wrong. I am okay with being wrong, that means I will find more truth. Be aware that anything shared with me that contradicts Scripture I will not receive no matter how God it sounds. Scripture is my foundation.
