The Beatitudes-Pure in Heart-Part Three

We have been discussing Mathew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, they shall see God.” We have discussed the concept of blessing, pure in heart, and this article we are looking at the concept of Seeing God. But first this recap Blessed and Pure in Heart.
Blessed
Spiritually calm with life, joy in God’s favor, God’s presence, spiritually mature.
Pure in Heart
What is separated (purged), hence clean because unmixed with undesirable elements. Free from the contaminating influences of sin. Free from corrupt desire, free from sin and guilt. Integrity, moral courage, godly character. Single minded devotion.
See God
The concept of seeing God is interesting. Some would say you cannot see God. That is true. BUT at the same time you can see God. You may not see God physically but can experience the workings of God and see His Hand in the midst of things, and sense His presence.
Exodus 33:20 says “But you cannot see my face, because no one can see me and live.” This is in regard to when God showed Himself to Moses.
Job 42:5 says “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You;” God certainly did not see God, so what is he saying. He is saying what many of us can say-we have read about God, we have heard others speak about God, but we have also experienced God working in our life, we have experienced His presence,
There is absolutely no way via words that we can explain to an atheist, a agnostic, a pagan, how we as Christ followers have seen God in our life. There is no way they understand the concept without a revelation of God. BUT here is a reality, all of us before we were Christ followers had some form of experience of seeing God before we came to faith, otherwise we would have never come to faith.
Pure in Heart and Seeing God
Mathew 5:8 says “Blessed are the pure in heart, they shall see God.” So does that mean only those who are pure in heart can see God? Absolutely not because when we are lost we had experiences to show us there was God, maybe even times when we experienced His presence in the midst of our lostness.
Our God is merciful. Praise God we do not have to have a perfect heart to see, experience God in our life. There would be nope if we had to have totally pure hearts. BUT here is Great News-the more our heart becomes purer, the more we see God and the more blessed we become.
Keep Your Eyes Open
Be on the look out for God in everyday life. If you do not have a relationship with Jesus, keep your eyes open to see God. Be aware, you may not see Him currently. but as you make the decision to have a more of heart, however slight it is, you are opening up a door to see God, to see Him work in your life.
