Who is Quirky PreacherRichD-Mercy

Mercy
Mercy: Compassion, leniency, or restraint (as in imposing punishment) shown especially to an offender or to one subject to the power of another. A blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion. Compassionate treatment of those in distress. Deep sense of compassion.
Synonyms: Charity, clemency, grace, leniency.
The Sovereign Lord is holy, righteous, just, while at the same time is merciful. We ALL fall short. We ALL need the mercy of God in our lives. Thus, we should live by Matthew 5:7, Blessed are the merciful for they shall receive mercy.
I Need Mercy
As a wholehearted committed Follower of Jesus Christ I still need God’s mercy in my life. I fall short of the glory of God. I do not always live according to the will of God. I do not always obtain the grace of God to walk in faithfulness and obedience. At times my life is hypocritical.
I am extremely thankful for the mercy of God. I am thankful there are times God’s mercy outweighs His justice. Thus, I am very careful in demanding justice.
Others Need Mercy
I need mercy and every human being needs mercy. l want to be a giver of mercy to others. Not because they may deserve it but because it is the loving thing to do. It is the right thing to do. If a Holy God shows mercy to me why would I ever hold mercy back from others. I am no better than anyone else so why would I hold back mercy from others. I should be more than willing to show compassion to others.
I believe if you are filled with the love of God, giving compassion and mercy should come easy.
Justice and Mercy
I am absolutely convinced that you can stand for holiness, righteousness, justice, the principles found in the Word of God and also be merciful.
Being merciful is not the lowering of the standard. When God issues mercy He does not lower the standard. When a judge gives leniency, he does not change the law. The law stays the same. Instead, he shows compassion by lessening the consequences.
Legalism, Judgmentalism
Sadly, there are Christians who are legalistic, judgmental, rigid, that live by the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law. They refuse to show mercy. They do not reflect the character of Christ. They do harm to others. They seem to have no ability to show mercy even to their brothers and sisters in the Lord. I do not care to have fellowship with such individuals and honestly have little desire to show them mercy. In fact, I do a terrible job overall showing mercy to those who think they are better than others, or never need mercy because they think they do little wrong.
Politics and Lack of Mercy
Sadly, many who make politics a higher goal than souls show little mercy. Or they show abundant mercy to those they agree with and manifest judgment and hatred to those they disagree with on various issues. I have seen this over and over again and I have a strong disdain for such individuals.
Sloppy Agape and Greasy Grace
Sloppy agape, love that contradicts the Word of God, greasy grace that violates what grace truly is, the power to live in victory over sin, are things I believe are more harm than good. I much rather stand on the Word of God and give mercy to all who fall short.
My Problem
Sometimes I confuse people. They cannot comprehend how staunch I can be on some issues yet show mercy to those who have other beliefs. They see it as compromise in a negative way or wavering when I show mercy. For me loving people and showing compassion must be just as critical as standing for truth even if I am misunderstood.
Sadly, I am aware that at times it appears I have no compassion or mercy. At times I appear judgmental and condemning. Much of that is because I do much more of showing compassion and mercy in private ways rather than in public. Again, it brings confusion. It is sad because I truly am a very merciful individual in the big picture.
Solution
I need to make a greater emphasis on publicly showing compassion and mercy.
Be Aware
Be aware I have at times little patience for those who claim to be Christ Followers that do not show mercy and compassion.
My next two topics will be on forgiveness and my perspective on the outcasts of society.
