How’s Your Posture

Excerpts from Chapter 2 It’s Happening.

“Since God walked in, all we’ve wanted to do is maintain the right position to keep Him here. We call it posture. Posture is the attitude – mental or spiritual- people develop, usually in response to how external forces affect their internal world.”

McDowell’s Posture

McDowell states his posture is waiting, honor, crying out, making room for God. He states he is not talking about working for God’s blessings or making something happen. He is talking about partnering with God.

Nine Postures

1. Waiting-Waiting like the 120 in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost.
2. Desperation-Divine Desperation leads you to awareness of your great need for God.
3. Crying-Crying out to God to water spiritual seed for harvest.
4. Prayer-Dependence upon God, intercession.
5. Worship-Worship in spirit and truth. Worship from a place of self-denial. God is not in our presence, we are in His presence.
6. Deliberate Action-“There are no accidental moves of God. If you are going to experience God, it’s not going to happen by being random.” You must deliberately pursue God.
7. Faith-Persistent faith.
8. Obedience-Obedience is the most important posture.
9. Repentance-The pathway to revival.

“Everyone claims to want Him, but will you pray until you touch Him? Will you worship until you touch Him? Will you wait till you touch Him? Will you risk rejection to touch Him? Will you risk ridicule to touch Him? We’re not going to accidentally enter into revival.”

Stories of the River

“Gifts of prophecy, words of knowledge, and words of wisdom have been alive in our midst.” During a sermon McDowell was led to say “Watch for the day of the Walmart miracle.” He said someone is going to go into a Walmart and have a divine encounter. At the end of the service of gentleman came forward and said he had encountered one of the church members who had invited him to come to church that day. The youth pastor started prophesying revealing his past life and God’s desire for the gentleman’s future. The young man surrendered to Christ. Turns out he was a Muslim.
