It's Happening | Heaven Responding

We will be doing some blog articles on the book It’s Happening-A Generation is Crying Out, and Heaven is Responding by William McDowell. William McDowell has been a worship leader for years, traveling across the world. He is also the pastor of Deeper Fellowship Church Orlando. It’s Happening is about the move of God that took place at Deeper Fellowship. (God is still moving.) I will be sharing excerpts from the book.

Why this Blog Series?

There are some valuable insights in the book regarding a move of God, regarding revival. Because I believe it is the heart of God to move among His people if they will participate with His will. Because one of the reasons of not seeing more of the move of God is because of lack of faith and lack of hunger. I am hoping this series will stir up both faith and hunger. Because I hunger for a move of God, because of the results that come from true revival.

If it’s Happening Anywhere

“If it’s happening anywhere, it can happen everywhere. Or once it’s happening anywhere, it’s available everywhere. It will happen where there are those who are truly seeking a move of God.”

John the Baptist was locked up prison and started doubting if Jesus was the Messiah. He sent his disciples to ask Jesus “Are you the One, or should we look for another?”. Jesus answered the question with the following:
Matthew 11:4-6
⁴Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see: ⁵the blind receive sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. ⁶And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.”

Jesus is saying tell John that what he has been prophesying, believing, and praying for is happening.

If God is moving in other countries He certainly can move in America.

Let the Rivers of God Flow

McDowell’s heart is to have reverence and honor for what God is doing in his church because he believes they did nothing to bring it, but could do something to cause it to leave. He believes they have experienced the sovereign favor of God. He understands that their lack of respect for God’s favor can repel the move of God. He calls the church services rivers, believing everything they do should follow the leading of God, and not try and manage the flow of God. He states ‘In the river of God there cannot be boats with oars, must throw down the oars and put up sails.

Greatest Tragedy

Mcdowell states “One of the greatest tragedies that could exist is that the prayers of the saints who have gone before us and who cried and cried out for revival be wasted on a complacent and comfortable church.”

Healings and Miracles

At the time of the writing of It’s Happening there was more than two hundred miracles of physical healing (many documented) in addition to deliverance, supernatural breakthrough, and salvations.

A Long Time Coming

McDowell has hungered for revival since 1998. He did not see it personally until 2016. Through worship and prayer meetings McDowell learned to be sensitive to the voice of God and learned how to host the presence of God. However, he describes his longing for revival led him through lonely times, isolation, ridicule, and being called weird. (I can relate and have to confess I have many times stopped seeking because of these experiences.)

Get Your Hopes Up

“Because there has not been a powerful move of God in America there has been a spirit of skepticism and discouragement. Maybe for us after years of praying, it seems like nothing is happening. God sees your tears, He sees the seeds you have sown. Keep contending.”

“God is looking for people who have a persistent faith, an unwavering, unshakable faith, believing if God has done it in the past he will do it again.”

Our Response

Our response to the Word of the Lord determines our experience and results. God is calling His people out of their comfort zone, out of themselves, out of the norm. We pray, God responds. Our response to God determines what we experience.
