Bible Promises to Overcome Fear

Every single one of us deal with fear at times. For some they are consumed with fear. How about replacing your fear with the promises of God.

First, why we should not fear
Anxiety, worry, and fear will overtake us, if we fret over the future.
Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
If we are busy worrying about tomorrow, have fears what tomorrow will bring, we will not address what needs to be addressed today.

Fear traps us, fear is destructive.
Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
The answer to fear is to trust the Lord. He will watch over us. But what about when He does not watch over us, harm comes our way. There i good news in the midst of bad news.

Romans 8:28 NASB
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

God gives us power to overcome fear
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Sound mind is translated as disciplined mind, mind that has self-control, well-balanced, wise discretion.

Trust in God, Trust His Word, Do not Fear Man
Psalm 56:3-4
3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. 4 In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
Go to God when afraid. Go to the Bible when afraid, for guidance, wisdom, encouragement.
If God is on your side, you do not have to fear people. Again Romans 8:28, it all works out even if bad comes your way.

God Gives Us Direction and is Our Stronghold
Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Seek God for direction and for strength.

Do Not Be Discouraged, God Will Strengthen You, Help You, Uphold You
Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
What a great promise!!!!!

God is With Us
Psalm 23:4
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
We cannot go where God is not with us.

We Need to Avoid Walking in Terror
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
We are called to be courageous.

God is Our Refuge, Our Strength
Psalm 46:1-3
1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
