It’s Happening-Chapter 7

Urgent Anticipation
Excerpts from Chapter 7 It’s Happening by William McDowell.
God is Accelerating
Amos 9:13
“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “When the plowman will overtake the reaper And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; When the mountains will drip sweet wine. And all the hills will be dissolved.”
McDowell shares that Amos foretold rapid growth and abundance of the 1st Century church. “In ancient times, during regular farming season, the plowman and the reaper were never together. Those who sowed seed did it in one season, usually summer, and those who reaped it did it in another season, usually fall. The Lord is saying that the days are coming when both will be on the field at the same time. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once, and everywhere you look, blessings. Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills.”
McDowell says “We don’t have much time. Things are going to happen quickly.” One can question if Amos is specifically talking about the 1st Century Church, if his prophetic word would be for our generation. But there is something we should be able to agree on. With the Internet, with Social Media, with AI, things ae happening faster and faster. Sin is certainly abounding. Sin is certainly going beyond what we imagined. It certainly looks like Satan is on fast forward. Why would not God be on fast forward with saving souls and transforming lives to outpace Satan?
It’s Harvest Time
The Woman at the Well
The disciples were looking for food while Jesus was talking to the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus spoke prophetically to the woman and she immediately went into the city to tell everyone. People came streaming from the village. Jesus then told His disciples the fields are already ripe for harvest. Jesus was telling them there was a much more urgent need than them trying to find something to eat. McDowell says “Jesus was letting them know that it was harvest time. The plowman was overtaking the reaper.”
Urgency
McDowell states “…we need to get this sense of urgency into our spirits. No one is talking about the urgency of Christ anymore. These days sermons are about, bless me, how to be a better this or that or five steps to this and four steps to that. They talk about the latest movies and the most relevant thing in popular culture.” McDowell talks about pastors in the past had an urgency that any Sunday could be the last Sunday to preach. McDowell, “When Jesus entered the earth, acceleration began.
Season of Acceleration
2 Peter 3:3-4
3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”
There are mockers now, just at in the past. They fail to realize judgment is coming.
2 Peter 3:7
But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
2 peter 3:8
But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.
McDowell states “…since the day Christ came as a baby until now, it’s only been two days to him. Look at everything that has happened in two days. We are in a season of acceleration. To God, he just came.”
2 Peter 3:9-10
9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
Jesus is merciful and thus delaying His return, but the warning is He is coming as a thief with His judgment. McDowell states “Those of us who understand the times and seasons, like the sons of Issachar, are crying and falling on our faces so much because we know that the revival God is bringing may very well be the last one. This could be the last one.”
McDowell states some are waiting for this or that thing to occur. Others are using calculators to figure out Christ return. But McDowell states “Every time we come together could be the last time. Every time we open our eyes could be the last day. How will you be found?”
Testimonials-Stories of the River
McDowell shares about his pastor friend Tony who flies from North Carolina to Orlando every single month for Presence Night. One time Tony unknown to McDowell, placed on the altar a piece of paper with the name of one of his church members who was battling sickness. McDowell stated their church has seen many miraculous healings of those who have had their names placed at the altar.
Sometime later Pastor Tony asked McDowell to preach at his church anniversary celebration. McDowell sense the presence of God within the congregation. Pastor Tony asked McDowell to pray for a lady who had Stage 4 lung cancer that spread to her spine and near her brain stem. McDowell said he had a strong sense that when he prayed for her, she was healed that night, but of course no proof at the time. Months later Pastor Tony let McDowell know that the lady’s medical reports showed no signs of cancer. “It’s Happening!”
A Special Announcement
McDowell states “We’re not asking God for revival only so that we can see more signs and wonders. It’s not about gold dust, gold fillings, angel feathers, stigmata, anointed oil, none of that stuff.”
“We are here in this moment because God invited us here. He walked into our space to make an announcement. The enemy’s time is short.”
“According to Micah 7, revival is a loud announcement in the middle of corruption and scandal and sin that the enemy’s time is short.”
“Our nation does not deserve revival. We have allowed the enemy to torment us with sin, scandal, and corruption. But our God is so merciful that he’s sending revival anyway.”
“The more the fires of revival burn, the further out the enemy is driven. The closer God gets to us, the looser the grip of the enemy becomes. Time is coming to a close. We should be living with urgency and expectation in our hearts.”
Respond
McDowell states “If you are saved and surrendered your heart to Jesus, you don’t have more time to try to get yourself together. You need to live with urgency. If you have never surrendered to Jesus Christ, you don’t have the time to keep running. Today is your day.”
Prayer
“Lord Jesus, I’m not running from you anymore. I’m running to you.”
“I believe that you are the Son of God who died for my sins and that God your Father raised you to new life and received your sacrifice and forgiveness. Today, I acknowledge that I need you and surrender my life to you completely. I know I don’t have time, so I pray that you would fill me with your spirit.”
“Let me have the urgency to cry out for revival. I want to see it. I want to be a part of the mighty things you will do in this season. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”
