Love of Christ Controls Us
The LOVE OF CHRIST control, compels, constrains, drives, urges us. What does it compel us to do? To die to self and live for him.
14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15
The LOVE OF CHRIST reveals to use how much God loves us by having His only begotten Son die on a cross for our sins and sending us His Holy Spirit to dwell within us. Because of this revelation we no longer want to live for ourselves but for Jesus.
Thus, the more we experience the love of Christ the more we will die to self and live for Christ.
Thus, the more we experience the love of Christ the more we will overcome sin.
Thus, we need to focus on Christ, not our sin.
Thus, we need to focus on how good He is, not how bad we are.
Again, The LOVE OF CHRIST WILL CONTROL, COMPEL, CONSTRAIN, DRIVE, URGE US to live for CHRIST, not self or sin.
BUT
We must first hate our selfish nature and our sin, or we will not run to Christ for the answer. We need to face the ugliness ion our life (the sin and selfishness of our life) and cry out to God in true repentance and He will consume us with His love if you will receive it. Do not reject the love of Christ. It will transform you.
