Masks Not Required-Let’s Be Real
If the Church wants to see lost people come to Christ, fakeness in the body of Christ needs to disappear. Most people, especially the lost can spot when someone is wearing a mask. It is time to BE REAL. Sadly there is plenty of fake going on in many pulpits. Pastors are taught in seminary to never be vulnerable or open about their challenges or struggles. They are taught to be fake. So fakeness flows through the church. Everybody is okay every Sunday. No vulnerability, no openness. Masks.
No Masks Required. Come As You Are
When I was a pastor our church was made up of people of all walks of life from totally lost people to individuals who had been born again for over 50 years. The motto of the church was “No masks required. Come as you are.” I set the example for the church by being real and vulnerable with the congregation. There is no need for masks if you know who you are in Christ. Shame, guilt, condemnation have no power over you.
Many times in a sermon I would say “Let’s Get Real!” That meant I was going to unashamedly speak spiritual truth. No sugar coating. It was time to Get Real and speak on the things that Christians do not want to speak on. It might mean confronting blatant sin. It might mean confronting Christian hypocrisy. The bottom line it meant it was time to remove the masks. We are all broken people in need of a Savior.
Reaching the Lost
If an unbeliever does not know Christ, one of the best ways they can see the love of Christ is Christians that are real about their struggles and their victories. Christians who when they fall short they know WHO to go to. Christians who stumble but overcome. Christians who love each other in spite of each other. Christians who know that without Christ they are no better than the worse of the worse. So they love on the ‘least of these’.
Let’s Get Real
Let’s Get Real exposes the fake, then deliverance and healing can come. Let’s Get Real removes masks. When masks are removed, deliverance and healing can come. Those healed do not need masks.
Let’s Get Real, too many Christians have a fear, disdain, misconception about the concept of deliverance and thus many Christians leave in bondage for years, being poor reflections of the character of Christ.
THE REAL
The REAL is the Word of God. The pure Gospel. The spirit of Truth. Truth sets people free.
The REAL is we ALL fall short, are broken people, and need a Deliverer, a Savior. Jesus is the one that not only saves us from hell but also delivers us from the power of hell.
Praise God for the Love of the Father, the sacrifice of Christ, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. NO MASKS REQUIRED!
None of us have arrived. All of us are on a journey.
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6
So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:12-13
