There is within the American Church a False Gospel. The word gospel is used loosely. The mindsets I am going to address are far from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The mindsets have nothing whatsoever to do with the True Gospel. But they are presented as truths and as being part of Christianity. So, they become an American Christianity, not the Christianity of the Bible.

One defintion of the American Gospel which we call false is a corrupted Christianity by adding promises of the “American dream” (health, wealth, and prosperity) and/or by subtracting core truths due to postmodernism, relativism, and religious pluralism. It should be noted that there are different layers, different ‘flavors’, different characteristics of the False American Gospel. It is not a tight doctrinal belief system, it is combination of various beliefs, mindsets, attitudes.

False Beliefs of the False American Gospel

This list of false beliefs of the False American Gospel do not depend upon each other. They may even be in conflict. It only takes one false belief to distort the gospel.

American Dream Gospel
It is the prosperity gospel. God wants every Christian to be healthy, wealthy, prosperous. If thus does not describe your situation you are outside the will of God. This leads to a mindset that God does not want Americans to experience persecution. This mindset is connected with American Nationalism

American Nationalism
Nationalism is placed above the salvation of souls and the Word of God. It presents that God loves America more than any other Country. The number one goal is to save America. American Nationalism is all about America becoming a Christian nation. It embraces the false doctrine of Kingdom Now, Dominion Theology. American Christians through Christian leaders will lead America to becoming a theocracy under Jesus. Those government and religious leaders that embrace this mindset can do no wrong, they get a free pass. (I will be addressing this mindset in a variety of ways.

The Me Gospel
Everything is about me. Self-centeredness. Believe in yourself. God is in the business to make me happy. Follow your heart. Create your own Christian doctrine that matches your lifestyle and beliefs.

Permissive Grace Gospel
It is the concept that God is so gracious and merciful we can willfully in an ongoing, continual basis, sin after being born again. The concept of holiness, sanctification is abandoned. The extreme once saved, always saved doctrine fuels this mindset. Pastors saying a person can get ‘saved’, live like the devil, with no evidence of true salvation, and at their funeral they pray them into heaven, after all they are one of the elect.

Social Justice Gospel
Helping others is more important than winning souls. Seeking justice without accountability. Everyone is a victim mentality. It takes good concepts like helping the helpless and raises it above the salvation of the helpless. Instead of both, it is either/or.

Jesus Or
Jesus is not the only way to heaven. It can be Jesus or… The deity of Jesus is rejected. Jesus was just a good man, just like Buddha…

New Age/Eastern Religion Influences
New Age and Eastern Religion practices are incorporated with Christian living. It partners with more than one way to heaven, Jesus is not the Only Way. Jesus and….

Sexuality Distortion
This mindset embraces the LGBTQXYZ mentality and all the gender confusion that comes with this movement. The lie that one must embrace the movement to be a loving Christian. It promotes that God does not care what sexual orientation you are, or how you identify sexually.

Interfaith Emphasis
More than the thought we need to get along with anyone regardless of faith, it is the belief that all religions are the same, that Christianity is just one of many. The Bible is just one of many truths.

False Theology
All of the above is false theology and is embraced by many who would call themselves Christians. There are “Christian Movements” promoting these false beliefs, mindsets. There are Christian denominations that embrace some of these false beliefs.

Some statistics show that a majority of Americans that call themselves Christians embrace one or many of these false beliefs. Sadly there are many other false beliefs/false practices/false mindsets that are embraced. I will be covering them in this series.

God’s Judgment
It would be foolish to believe that the Sovereign Lord is never going to deal with these false beliefs within the American Church-that He is not going to confront the False American Gospel. There will be a time he says enough. Before the full judgment of God will come upon America God will bring judgment upon the American Church first.

What does the judgment look like? Who knows for sure. But this we know, there will be a refiners fire and a purging. There will be exposure. There will be consequences.

1 Peter 4:
For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Repentance
At the end of each article in this series there will be the call to repentance. Repentance can forestall the judgment of God, or at least lessen the consequences. There needs to be individual repentance and corporate repentance,

What false belief have you embraced? Is the Holy Spirit convicting you? If so, repent! Pray for repentance to fall upon the American Church, Pray for public confession and repentance. Pray if there is not repentance, that systems will fall. The church doors that promote false beliefs and teachings will be shut down if no repentance,
