The Beatitudes-Blessed Are The Peacemakers-Part One

My co-host, Bobby the Seeker, will be doing several podcasts on this topic. We will be discussing that we are called to be peacemakers, especially in the ministry of reconciling man to God, that when we are ones who focus on being biblical peacemakers instead of being mean-spirited dividers we are able to win people to Christ who win others to Christ, being a peacemaker is not being a people pleaser, and practical ways to walk out the lifestyle of being a peacemaker.
Matthew 5:9 ESV
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.”
Matthew 5:9 The Message Paraphrase
“You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.”
Matthew 5:9 The Amplified Bible
“Blessed [spiritually calm with life-joy in God’s favor] are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will [express His character and] be called the sons of God.
Blessed
Being blessed by God is not all about material and financial blessings. The greatest one can have is the favor of God. That can come rather you rich or poor. What is guaranteed is you will be rich in spirit.
Maker and Maintainer of Peace
A peacemaker will be a person who works towards reconciliation and harmony. They are mediators. They strive to bring others together. They find common ground. Yes common ground in the midst of disagreements, in the midst of conflict, in the midst of different opinions.
Sadly, there are many Christians that would not be called peacemakers.
Sons of God
Peacemakers will be called the sons of God. Think about that. To be called a son of God the challenge is to be a peacemaker. Being a peacemaker is not optional for Christians.
Man Reconciled to God
Many would say in our culture today it is impossible to be a peacemaker. Without Christ that is true. But guess what. Jesus was mediator between God and man and reconciled mankind to God. So through the power of the Holy Spirit we can be reconcilers.
The Ministry of Reconciliation
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, [h]he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and [i]He has [j]committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
The number role of us being peacemakers is to be vessels of honor used by God to reconcile individuals to God. We as Christians need to make the salvation of souls our number one priority. One of the main reasons there is so much turmoil in the world is because we as Christ Followers have not made the Great Commission the Number One Commission.
We may not be able to bring peace to the world but we can bring some peace in the sphere of our influence. One of the best ways of doing this is sharing the Gospel and making disciples.
In our next podcast we will speak more on being a reconciler.
