The Beatitudes-Blessed Are the Merciful-Part Four

Mercy and Injustice
In Part One Co-Host Bobby and I spoke on the principle that we at times need mercy so we should extend mercy to others. The promise is if we extend mercy we will receive mercy. In Part Two Bobby and I focused on the definitions of mercy and how to apply mercy in a practical sense and that God calls us to show mercy to others. In Part Three we talked about Mercy and Justice. Showing mercy does not mean we condone sin or not hold others accountable. In Part Four we talk about Mercy and Injustice
Jesus Our Example
What about showing mercy when there is injustice? Jesus, who never sinned while on earth is condemned to death. This the greatest example of injustice on earth. Jesus chose to receive the unjust punishment so that He could take on the sins of mankind. Not only take on the sins of mankind but to take on the penalty of sin by dying on the cross. He did this for what reason? To be merciful upon mankind so that man could be redeemed back to God.
What If
What if someone falsely accused you and the consequence was you were found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison. That would certainly be injustice. For many, if not most, it would ruin their life. But does it have to ruin your life? Not if you are in Christ. Not if you make a choice to not let it ruin your life.
Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
If you are in Christ, you love God in spite of what takes place in your life, you are certainly called by God and he can make any circumstance work out for your good. He can also give you the grace to forgive and even to pray for mercy upon the person who attempted to ruin your life. Does that mean you do not seek justice, does that mean you must trust the person? Absolutely not! But you can pray for God to intervene in their life.
The Truth
The truth is most of us will never have some situation take place in our life like this. But what about when a co-worker has wronged you, someone says something false about you? Do you show mercy or seek revenge? Reminder
Matthew 5:7
Blessed are the merciful for they shall receive mercy.
